Description

Waste pipes and fittings made from mineral-filled polypropylene effectively reduce noise intensity and meet the requirements of EN 1451-1. They are ideal for residential houses, apartment buildings, hotels, hospitals and other structures with demands for quiet operation.

Skolan SAFE dB – quiet drainage system with exceptional acoustic and mechanical properties

Skolan SAFE dB is a high-quality system of quiet waste pipes and fittings made from polypropylene with high mineral filler content. This combination of materials significantly increases the density of the piping, which gives it not only exceptional mechanical resistance, but above all outstanding acoustic properties. The result is a system that can effectively reduce noise transmitted through drainage pipes and meets even the most demanding requirements of modern construction.

Why choose Skolan Safe dB

Effective noise damping directly at the source

Skolan SAFE dB dampens noise at two levels:

  • 1. inside the pipe, where it prevents the spread of noise from flowing water
  • 2. in the pipe wall, where special molecular structure and increased material density prevent the transmission of vibrations to surrounding structures.

The patented polymer composition with mineral filler makes it possible to significantly reduce sound energy already at the point of its origin. Laboratory and operational tests confirmthat optimal density and thick-walled construction are among the most effective ways to dampen sewage noise.

Quiet operation – values approaching the threshold of audibility

Skolan SAFE dB is able to achieve acoustic values that approach the limit of human hearing perception.
During testing, values significantly lower than those required by the standard (DIN 4109) establishing noise conditions in noise-protected spaces were achieved. The measured value of 20 dB(A) was even lower than the 25 dB(A) requirement of the stricter German directive VDI 4100.

These values confirm that the combination of a solid wall, mineral filler, and high material density creates an acoustically exceptionally effective system.
Skolan SAFE dB thus significantly contributes to quiet and comfortable living even in buildings with higher concentration of apartments or businesses.

Robust construction that withstands extreme conditions

Skolan SAFE dB pipes and fittings are manufactured in dimensions DN 50–200 and are characterized by exceptionally thick walls with material density 1.6 g/cm³.

This ensures:

  • high resistance to mechanical load
  • long-term shape stability even with temperature fluctuations
  • excellent properties during installation and operation
  • reliability even in demanding conditions of industrial or multi-story buildings

Quality material, precise processing, smooth surface and robust structural elements guarantee long service life and minimal maintenance requirements.

Quality confirmed by standards, tests and production control

The Skolan SAFE dB system is manufactured under strict control – laboratory tests, process management, incoming and outgoing inspections are carried out in accordance with:

  • TQM – Total Quality Management
  • EN ISO 9001.

Thanks to high quality standards, Skolan SAFE dB is long-term stable, reliable and provides assurance even in installations where maximum demands are placed on quiet operation and safety.

Raises the standard of modern living

Noise standards are nowadays an integral part of quality housing requirements. Skolan SAFE dB meets strict ecological, economic and acoustic criteria and brings significant improvement in comfort in single-family homes, apartments, hotels and public buildings.
The use of this system in new construction or renovation leads to increased overall quality of the building and property value.

FAQ

Maximum operating temperatures of pipes, fittings and seals

Maximum operating temperatures can be found in the individual catalogs of waste and sewage systems and seals.

permanent temporary
90°C 100°C

Seals Areas of use - temperatures
SBR (at manufacturer/within the scope of work) approx. -50°C to +100°C
EPDM approx. -50°C to +150°C
NBR (can be ordered separately) approx. -30°C to +100°C

SBR Improved resistance to wear and aging, good resistance to operating fluids
EPDM Excellent resistance to wear, aging and most operating fluids
NBR Versatile material. Seals for contact with mineral oil or fuels. Poor resistance to ozone and weather effects.
Is shortening of shaped parts permitted?

Not permitted.

Direction of laying plastic pipes

Laying of pipes with spigot ends / couplings is generally carried out so that the tapered end is in the direction of flow. The tapered end is inserted into the socket / coupling.

Quote from plastic pipes manual (4th edition, section 3.4.4 Construction of sewers and wastewater pipes, page 463)

Based on this, the direction of pipe laying in the direction of flow is clearly defined.

Chemical resistance of M.O.L. seals to "swimming pool water"

Seals of BL, DD and Euro L Spezial systems are resistant to water with a maximum chlorine content of 0.6 mg/l.

Assignment of products to standards / certificates

Skolan SAFE dB (DN 58 - DN 200) according to STO – AO 224 – 84/2008/d.

What piping system is suitable for wastewater containing fats (in canteens, large kitchens, industry, gastronomy, etc.)?

We can recommend waste system KG 2000 Polypropylene for the application area "UD" – under the foundation slab and outside the building in the ground. For internal waste (application area "B") HT-System PLUS (PP) Skolan SAFE dB with sealing rings made of NBR.

Use of Skolan SAFE dB pipes in central vacuum facilities.

Waste system Skolan SAFE dB meets the requirements for central vacuum systems.

Can the dimensioning of the sewage / drainage system be reduced (narrowed) in the direction of flow?

No! This provision serves, among other things, to prevent the formation of (back) ponding and retained volume inside the system.

Bracket spacing for horizontal installation of Skolan SAFE dB.

This information is contained in the installation manual Skolan SAFE dBp. 29.

What is the insulation against condensation water from dew on Skolan SAFE dB?

On the laid waste pipe Skolan SAFE dB (rainwater pipe) a felt sleeve (or other materials commonly available in the trade) must be installed.

What is the behavior of pipes in case of fire?

Sewage systems HT-System PLUS (PP), Skolan SAFE dB a Ultra dB System are classified according to DIN 4102 in class B2 among normally flammable substances (see catalog p. 31).
